...it's powerful illustration of your body's ability to keep you safe.
It's proof of your strength and courage in the face of difficult circumstances. Together we can connect with your body's strength to support your healing process so you can rediscover balance, pain free living, and peace of mind - no matter how long ago the trauma happened. Through my years of working in trauma recovery, I've come to learn that when we are impacted by trauma, it does not only get stored in the brain as an unresolvable memory, it can be stored anywhere in the Mind/Body Complex including the physical body, the emotional and mental body, the energetic body, and the spiritual body. Often it is a combination of several, or even all, of these layers. This is often why people come to me for resolution when all other methods have failed. Our sessions can look across these layers and finally make the connections that other therapies and methods are not able to address. Acupuncture and BodyTalk are Powerful Tools for Healing your Body and Your LifeMost sessions are a combination of working with specific aspects of the physical body
Learn more about BodyTalk on my website. Below are some examples of sessions I've done with my patients. We've been listening to our bodies ever since we were in utero. After we were born we listened to it tell us when it was hungry, too warm, or too cold, etc.
When we grew up, we listened to our bodies tell us when we could trust someone and not another. We listened when it said we were safe or in a dangerous situation. We even listened when it told us to wear that red shirt instead of the blue one. We've been listening for so long we've forgotten what listening is. BodyIntuitive and BodyTalk allow us a space in which we can listen to what's going on in our body - deeply listening for what it needs for healing. What are other places that allow this space? Meditation, prayer, painting, hiking, dancing? Those are great spaces, but sometimes our brain hijacks the information we get- squashing it, criticizing it, dismissing it. Sometimes we don't trust that we are listening accurately. Sometimes we are so deep in our darkness that we can't see the light, thus eliminating our ability to listen. That's why seeing an objective observer, a practitioner, who's trained to navigate your body's Priority for healing is so important. Your body is so smart and knows what it needs for healing at any given time. Do you have a practitioner who listens? The harmful version is called Threat Stress. Threat stress tells the body, "I'm overwhelmed," "I can't" and "I might die from this.' Threat stress releases cortisol, the main hormone responsible for the body's stress response and coinciding negative health implications. Living in a state of chronic stress can create a range of health issues from migraines to heart disease, insomnia, and autoimmune conditions. But studies are showing that a second kind of stress, Challenge Stress, can actually shift the bodies response system into creating greater health and wellbeing. Challenge stress is aptly named because it is created when we embrace the challenges in our life as opportunities to overcome and accomplish difficult tasks. When we shift into Challenge stress mode, our cognitive functions improve and cortisol levels lower. Challenge Stress tells the body, "This is hard, but I can do it!" Here are a few articles that talk about the different kinds of stresses and tool you can use to shift your body's stress response. Everything you wanted to know about acupunctureAcupuncture is a safe and effective tool to get you feeling better faster on your healing journey, but there can be mental blocks to actually scheduling your first appointment. At Heart + Heath Acupuncture we strive to be honest, transparent, and compassionate to everyone who is considering working with us. That why I've put together this list of the most frequently asked questions about acupuncture. I hope the answers below give you a good idea of what it's like to get acupuncture, and if you have a questions I haven't answered, feel free to reach out and ask. 1. How does acupuncture work? Just the very nature of carefully and painlessly inserting the acupuncture needle creates a shift in the body's nervous system. Of course it does - there's a foreign object now connected to your body causing your body to communicate differently on many levels, the least of which is the nervous system. Every point has a specific function and when we combine them together we harness the synchronistic effect of those points to communicate with the body on all levels - energetically, emotionally, physically, and systemically. This is why acupuncture can create shifts in the body, not only on a physical level where it can eliminate pain as well as bring back nerve function where it's been lost, like in Bell's palsy, but it also helps those with anxiety and depression feel and think better. 2.
