Discover Your Health Story
✥ Miranda specializes in working with clients who want to uncover their health story, looking at the WHY behind the symptoms.
Have you ever asked: Why do I have Lupus? Why does my grief/trauma still affect me so much? Why does my depression persist after years of meds and therapy? Why won't this pain go away? Why am I constantly getting sick? Why don't I feel like myself anymore? |
We get to the bottom of these questions by looking at your health roadmap. This roadmap gives us clues into how stress, toxins, inflammation, genetics, life events, and emotional/mental components all play a role in how your body is creating wellness or sliding into illness.
BodyTalk is like having an intimate conversation with your body. If you've always wondered what it might say to you, I highly recommend seeing Miranda! -SF
I use BodyTalk simply because it works!
BodyTalk is a unique energy healing system that takes into account your entire life story and how it's contributing to the health, or illness, in your body today. |
What does a BodyTalk session look like?
Bodytalk sessions are done fully clothed, usually while lying down on a massage table. The practitioner uses neuro-muscular biofeedback to go through a series of yes or no questions to determine the 'formula' that your body wants to work on for that session.
BodyTalk is a priority based modality, meaning we trust the body's innate wisdom to tell us what has priority for healing. I will then explain to you what the body wants to work on and then I will proceed to tap over your head, sternum, and belly to activate the brain and body for healing and then use any acupuncture points the body is requesting to help integrate and establish those shifts and changes.
Priority makes all the Difference! When we ask the body what it wants to work on first, we uncover the root cause of illness and imbalance instead of just addressing symptoms. This is why people get results from BodyTalk that they haven't been able to find anywhere else.

Here are a few stories from real life clients (names and some details have been changed to protect privacy)
Greg, age 52
Greg, age 52: Greg is a videographer and spends a lot of time on the computer editing videos for his clients. 12 years ago Greg fell and shattered his elbow, and the subsequent reconstruction left metal pins and plates in his elbow. His long hours editing at the computer creates shooting pain and numbness going from his elbow all the way down to his pinky finger.
At his first session his body's Priority was to address the stored trauma in his elbow that the reconstruction created, as well as addressing circulation flow of both blood and nerves, and how lymph was moving in the area. He reported a 90% improvement in the pain 3 days after the session.
At his second session a few weeks later, Greg reported the pain was back, but not nearly as bad as it was. For this session, his body still wanted to address blood and nerve flow again, but also address how his relationship with his wife at the time had impacted him emotionally. His marriage was traumatic, as was the divorce, and all this was happening during the time of his injury. His body has stored those unpleasant events and emotions along with the trauma of the injury, and had not been able to let it go even though he was remarried to a wonderful women with whom he had a great relationship.
We tapped this formula out and used the acupuncture points that the body requested. Three days later Greg reported feeling no pain while editing videos.

Carly, age 34 (CW: pregnancy loss)
Carly is in labor and has been for some time. Her labor has stalled and she and her midwives are wanting to use Acupuncture and BodyTalk to support her.
Her body's first Priority is to do the BodyTalk Cortices technique (see video below), and to balance her hormonal system with how her nervous system is regulating the shifts between Fight or Flight (Sympathetic nervous system) and the Rest and Digest (Parasympathetic Nervous System). Both of these systems play a significant role in how a woman's body responds to the hormones of labor.
The next things that came up in her body's Priority was how her body has been grieving and processing her previous pregnancy losses. She has had 4 pregnancy losses including losing the twin in this pregnancy. Even though she logically felt she had processed those losses, her body was saying otherwise. Sometimes we tuck away our feelings into a corner of our heart to save them for a more convenient time for processing and healing, only to have them pop up and demand attention. Her body had stalled in labor and was demanding to address these losses. We helped her heart connect with grief and what it meant to have a family and be a mom and all the associated feelings that comes along with love and sacrifice and loss. We used the acupuncture points to support the emotional shifts and help the body process and release so she could birth her baby.
I saw her three months later and she told me how important that session was for the rest of her birth, how grounded it had made her feel so she could move forward and have her baby.

Susan, age 34
Susan is a life coach and she's really good at what she does. She practices yoga and eats really healthy. She came in not knowing what she wanted to work on; just wanting to see what her body needed to stay healthy.
In her session, her body's first Priority was to balance her Three Brains with the Cortices technique. After we did that, her body then wanted to work on her relationship with her husband.
The words Absent Husband kept coming up.
I asked her if he works a lot. She said he use to travel a lot for work but now he doesn't.
I asked her how their relationship was. She said it was mostly good, but they have their issues like all couples.
Through further questioning she disclosed that her husband is a functioning alcoholic and even though she loves him and he's a great dad, she has a hard time reconciling the alcoholism.
I told her her body's Priority is to balance this consciousness for Absent Husband - she is relating to her husband as absent because of the conflict her emotions and beliefs have created around her husbands alcoholism.
Our BodyTalk session didn't tell her what she should do about her husband, BodyTalk just balances the energetic and emotional fields of the body so that Susan can have a greater sense of freedom and peace of mind as she navigates her relationship with her husband.
After the session she said she felt lighter and had a lot to think about. She thought she was resigned to love her husband amidst this tension, but now she feels a greater ability to actually address the feelings she's been ignoring.

Michael, age 32
Michael is an avid rock climber and cyclist, and he also works long hours taking care of other people for his career. When he gets stressed he gets intense shoulder pain, and even though he has seen multiple massage therapists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists, he still has lingering pain that doesn't seem to go away.
During Michael's intake, I learned that he had broken several ribs in a skiing accident about 8 years ago that occasionally cause him problems as well.
Our session started with me looking at his shoulder and doing some massage to address the tightness. When I asked his body's Innate Wisdom what it wanted to do it said we had to address the ribs first, especially the diaphragm and the connective tissues around the ribs and through the abdomen.
After we did some massage and got some good releases through the diaphragm, I then asked his body's Innate Wisdom what it wanted to address next. It said we had to address the pelvis and the muscles and connective tissues that travel through the pelvic floor. We addressed that through breath work and massage on the abdomen and legs, hips, and psoas. Then I asked his Innate Wisdom where it wanted us to go next. It said we had to address the opposite leg (from the shoulder that's bothering him) and work the hamstrings and calf muscles.
We then went back to the shoulder to address the main complaint and found the muscles softer, with less pain, and more range of motion.
Innate Wisdom took us very far from the original complaint- his shoulder. Before using BodyTalk I would have just addressed his shoulder- that is what his other massage therapists were doing, but without lasting results. Because we trust Innate and ask it what it wants for Priority, it can tell us what is needed for healing, balancing, and reconnecting the parts of the body that have been disconnected through stress, injury, and overwork.
Micheal walked out of my office several inches taller, feeling better, and with a smile on his face!

Olivia, age 2
Olivia was adopted at 3 weeks of age and her mother, Amanda, is worried about about her ability to bond, and whether or not she has integration issues.
At the beginning of the session Amanda tells me Olivia's birth story. Olivia's birth mother immigrated to the US from South America while she was pregnant and from what Amanda knows, it was a very stressful journey.
After Olivia's birth, Olivia didn't get skin to skin contact until Amanda was called in at 3 weeks. Skin to skin contact is very important for new babies because it helps the nervous system integrate information, and lays the essential neural pathways needing for bonding in infancy and throughout life.
At two years of age Olivia has been showing signs of not wanting to be touched, of disassociating and declining physical touch and contact with Amanda, as well as other developmental delays.
Because Olivia is only 2 years old and does not have a clear sense of identity apart from her primary caregiver, her mother, we do the bio-feedback through Amanda.
Olivia's first priority is to address, balance, and release the trauma that occurred while she was still in utero, and the stress that immigrating caused for her birth mother and for Olivia.
When babies are still in utero, they experience the same emotions as the person who is carrying them through the hormones that are created from these stressors- dopamine and endorphins when we are happy, catecholamines like adrenaline, and cortisol when we are stressed.
On Olivia's and Amanda's second visit, Olivia's Innate Wisdom wanted to address her birth. Amanda doesn't have the whole story of what happened during Olivia's birth, but Innate wanted to address trauma to her head from a possible instrumental delivery, the effects of separation, and the stress both of these caused on her nervous system.
The next part we addressed was the family energetic dynamic of having one biological child and one adopted child. We needed to shift the family energy so that both the children were whole and complete parts of the family, as well as cut the energetic "cord" to Olivia's birth mother so that she could fully integrate into her family.
When I got in touch with Amanda a few weeks after the second session, she reported that Olivia was more responsive to Amanda's initiations for touch and hugs, and Olivia was even seeking out contact and initiating hugs herself. Amanda said Olivia also appeared to have improved emotional regulation and was having fewer outbursts of frustration and sadness.

Learn how to tap out your Cortices
One of the foundational techniques in the BodyTalk system. Cortices resets the nervous system and allows for more effective communication across the 3 Brains: head brain, heart brain, and gut brain.
I recommended tapping out your cortices at least once a day.
Follow the instructions below to learn how to do this tap out and remember to add in tapping over
the belly to connect with the Gut Brain.
