Selfcare is being mindful of what you listen to, what you read, and what you eat.Our 5 senses interpret the information all around us and in turn also informs the functions within our bodies as well. The 5 senses are the physical and subtle ability of the body to interpret Our five senses interpret information from all around us and, in turn, contribute to the functions happening within our bodies. The way the brain makes sense of what's coming in through our senses, what it stores, what it makes things mean, and what it ignores, is cultivated throughout our lifetime, but most persistent and long lasting patterns, behaviors, and interpretations of how to navigate life, are set when we are young, experiencing new things and learning about life and the people and things around us. Even though our interpretations and opinions of the world are set when we are young, it doesn't mean it's too late to switch up the incoming information. As adults we have more options, more choices, and a little more control over the input than when we were kids. Switching up the input enables us to RESET the unhealthy patterning that was established when we were young. Do you want to be more accepting and loving of yourself? Do you want to experience more joy on a daily basis? Do you want to enjoy your work and feel satisfied in your career? Do you want to have deep fulfilling relationships with your family, spouse, and children? Sometimes, all it takes is changing the information that's coming in. Eliminating 'toxicity' in our lives can include changing the music we listen to, reading different books and magazines and limiting the impact toxic people have in your life. You can cause what's coming in and have that 'diet' be nourishing, supportive, and fulfilling on all levels.

You have the power to end generational traumaIt's up to us to break generational curses. When they say, 'It runs in the family, you tell them, 'This is where it runs out. My own journey of healing myself and my family story of childhood sexual abuse was a long and winding one.
When I was young we didn't talk about it except on one specific occaision when my mom couldn't avoid it any longer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The story was then compounded by having my first baby when I was still so young - just 19. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And the question slowly emerged over time as two more babies shortly came into our family. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do I raise whole humans when I am not whole myself? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember one specific evening not long after my first BodyTalk training. I was sitting in my tiny living room with my three teenagers laying around me, and I was going from one to the other practicing Bodytalk on them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As they laid around me breathing deeply, relaxed, and quiet, I could feel their body's breath and how that breath connects them to each other- and to me. In that moment I realized that my healing is their healing and their healing is my healing. I knew in that moment that this is why I am their mom. I became a healer to end the story of trauma in our family. And they chose me to be their mom because they knew that story would stop here. In the living room of my tiny apartment. The story stops here. Our family legacy will now be the passing on of generational healing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It doesn't mean that bad things will never happen to them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it does mean that that they already know what it is to be whole and they already have access to the tools so trauma doesn't perpetuate or recycle itself like it does in so many other stories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They got this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We got this. The brain stores information for future use. It's a survival mechanism designed to keep us safe from danger, or threat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Example: You touch a hot stove for the first time- your brain stores that information for the future. "Don't touch hot things. It hurts."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the problem is that the brain's mechanism for storing information is often arbitrary. That's why some people seem to move on quickly from traumatic events and others have a harder time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The other reason why moving on from trauma can be difficult is because not all the information gets stored in the brain. It can be stored in the diaphragm, the connective tissue, the bones, organs, skin, or energetic centers like chakras or energy meridians. But the first step to healing is getting the brain updated to what's happening now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To stop the brain from making choices based on old and outdated information. You may be operating on outdated software if you: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The harmful version is called Threat Stress. Threat stress tells the body, "I'm overwhelmed," "I can't" and "I might die from this.' Threat stress releases cortisol, the main hormone responsible for the body's stress response and coinciding negative health implications. Living in a state of chronic stress can create a range of health issues from migraines to heart disease, insomnia, and autoimmune conditions. But studies are showing that a second kind of stress, Challenge Stress, can actually shift the bodies response system into creating greater health and wellbeing. Challenge stress is aptly named because it is created when we embrace the challenges in our life as opportunities to overcome and accomplish difficult tasks. When we shift into Challenge stress mode, our cognitive functions improve and cortisol levels lower. Challenge Stress tells the body, "This is hard, but I can do it!" Here are a few articles that talk about the different kinds of stresses and tool you can use to shift your body's stress response.
